Erectile Disorder
Erectile dysfunction, also known as ED or impotence, is a condition where a man cannot achieve and maintain an erection suitable for successful sexual intercourse. Many men may experience ED in their lifetimes but a persistent condition that causes a stressful relationship may require treatment. If it persists, it may cause anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, and effect relationships. Psychological causes of impotence can stem from physical conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, or kidney problems requiring a doctor’s evaluation. A sex therapist may be needed to resolve the psychological issues.
Psychological causes of erectile dysfunction are often guilt over not satisfying your partner, stress from everyday life, anxiety from worry about this happening every time you and your partner are intimate, depression, indifference from aging, loss of desire, or relationship problems. Dr. Elsa Orlandini, certified sex therapist, will help you voice your concerns and suggest ways you may overcome your fears and worry about erectile dysfunction. You do not have to face this problem alone.
